The London Design Festival is in full swing this weekend, and nowhere more so than in the East End. At the Tent show on Brick Lane there was a definite trend for re-using everyday items:
A tea service and knuckle dusters made from household dusters, part of the Everyday Delights stand curated by the JJAM Curators Collective
a chair decorated with saints ribbons from 20 Age
a lamp made out of dead rats and uplighters from wooden legs, from the quirky Alex Randall
wine bottles as vases, but disguised in little vase shaped jackets from Furnish,
chairs made from rubber bands, from Orchard Studio,
decapitated McDonald’s Happy Meal toys and various offcuts of wool from Amanda Goode.
a lamp made from offcuts of chair legs and copper piping from Furniture Magpies.
and bird houses topped with Victorian clay roof tiles from Tomoko Azumi.
Tent is on all weekend (23-26 Sept 2010) at Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, London E1
The London Design Festival continues until 26 September.
